Do NOT get the Virus TI. It's a great synth, it sounds awesome. But there's just too many problems that IMO can not be fixed in a software update without reducing the polyphony drastically. You will not get 80 voices of polyphony like they claim (More like 24-32 voices). If you push it too hard it starts to emit clicking and crackling sounds. Basically the DSPs are too weak for the amount of features they crammed into it. Get a Virus C or B. |
really???? was about to get it in the ear future you are an owner so that is not just an opinion its really sad to hear this

For trance, for a first synth, out of those three I'd go with the Virus, it's sound is geared towards trance the most. I have a Virus KC, it has a huge sound and never had a single issue. I'll wait and see what the TI 2 (or whatever Access make next) shapes up to be, but I have heard of people having software issues with the TI. To my ears, the sound isn't earth-shatteringly different from the C, so I'm happy to wait for their next absolutely rock-solid synth.
At the right time and price I'll pick up an Andromeda, since I'm well stocked for most other synths. But it doesn't sound like a bread-and-butter, first synth. And the Radias...if you can get it very cheap, then yes, Korgs have a certain solid sound to them...I dunno, I've heard the Radias criticised for that "band in a box" functionality, with all it's arpeggiation and drum tracks and everything happening at the touch of a button. If you can turn all of that off and it has good solid sounds, then I'd say yeah, grab one cheap.
Other solid first synths with a wide range of textures are the Nord Lead 3 (or Rack 3, if you don't require a keyboard and want to save some money) and Waldorf Q.
But I'd say, you could pick up a Virus C fairly cheap from somewhere and be well on the way, in terms of awesome hardware sounds.

actually i checked the prices on ebay and i found some Virus Cs at 1100 USD so in this case i might give out more 500 - 600 USD and get the Ti
