OceanLab - Beautiful Together (Signum remix)

Why on earth is this track so poorly produced? It sounds like your'e listening to it played in around 24kbps, or through a phone line or something, even on vinyl, as Ive just bought it (and no it isnt a second hand or dodgy white label, its on anjunabeats).

Its not even as if its been made by poor producers with low quality equipment, so why does is there so much interference?

Its a real shame too as the melodies are so cool and it could be an awesome track. Maybe we should get a TA to do a remix thats actually clean.

I agree with the thread starter, every rip i've heard from this track sounded pretty low quality and i've always wondered about it as well.

i bought the cdr ages ago from anjunabeats and it doesn't sound THAT bad to me. while it doesn't sound very clear and crisp it doesn't sound like a 24kbps mp3 either. i've never had a problem with it.

That's how it was back then. To be honest, I think it adds to the track. Gives it a sort of warmth though it's not as bad as you make it out to be.

It's not that old is it? 03/04?

Never gone much on it anyway. Signum's mix of Web - Lovin' Times or any of their 99 stuff pisses all over it.

2003. I guess mastering wasn't as critical in all tracks back then as it is now.

Perhaps that was the desired sound Anyway, like I said I think it actually sounds good that way.

There was more hardware involved in production back then, even if it is only 4 years ago. Now you can do pretty much everything on a fast pc with some good software. Doesn't mean mastering was less important though, look at tunes like Bedrock - Heaven Scent. 1999 and it still sounds quite fresh, which is how Greg Downey got away with doing f**k all and calling it a remix haha.

this track has one of the best kick/bassline combos ever.. as far as it's style goes anyway. tyas & friends take note

i guess the treble sounds a tad muddy next to today's stuff but i've never noticed it to be abnormally bad. besides the very first time i heard it, which was a shitty reconstructed rip back in 03

I always preferred the original version of this one. Was always more complete sounding, even if it was a bit more simplistic in its production.
