Dutch DJ/producer JOOP has had his biggest year to date in 2007 and all the foundations are in place to build on that success. His epic track ‘The Future’ was chosen as the anthem of one of his country’s biggest dance music events - Trance Energy 2007, that saw him performing live on the main stage as the centrepiece of the night. The record has gone on to become one of the defining trance tunes of the year, with the top jocks still giving it pride of place at the front of their CD wallets. He already holds a strong reputation as a producer with a tough progressive tech-trance style, strong rhythms garnished with instantly memorable melodies. The backing of one of the Netherland’s biggest and most respected dance record labels, High Contrast, has helped push him to the forefront of the trance scene and led to him being recognised as one of its brightest talents. His first three singles, ‘Act Of God’, ‘The World’ and ‘Sonsuz’ instantly established JOOP as a producer of great skill, being hammered by all the top trance DJs. They know a JOOP production means quality with an attention to detail that makes it stand out in the crowd. On the remix front his work on tracks such as Leon Bolier – Lyra and Splitscreen – Boomblasta (with Bolier) have been just as massive on dancefloors world-wide. Falling in love with DJing at the tender age of 13, it was three short years before he landed his first residency at a local club in his home town of Leeuwarden. Here he honed his DJing skills, creating the infamous JOOP sound – powerful, energetic progressive/tech-trance with a generous dose of melody. He is known for having a great ability to read the crowd and build sets with skill. This has led to him spinning all over the world. He is a fixture at some of his country’s biggest dance events, with his appearances numbering twice at Mysteryland, thrice at Trance Energy and also twice at Sensation Black/White and Innercity. He accompanied Marco V, Armin van Buuren and Johan Gielen on the ID&T Radio Tour, played alongside Ferry Corsten on his L.E.F. tour and was also chosen to mix the official Trance Energy album in 2002. Building on the success of ‘The Future’, his latest release ‘On Top Of Things’ is a haunting, intelligent tech-trancer with a trademark JOOP melody that has already amassed support from the big-hitters.
