E:mortal - Fallen Angel

Here's the first mix of a experimental track I'm working on. It's a "dark" trance track with psy and orchestra influences.

Here's the link: http://www.emortal.se/music/Emortal..._Angel_new2.mp3

Let me know what you think of it so far

Really nice to hear something a bit different.

Bass freqs could do with being a little deeper in my opinion.
I love the composition, not sure if we are talking a dancefloor smash but definately something that would rock in a Matrix movie or similar.

Love it.
Cheers
Nem

wow, love intro! low-end needs EQ though! but man, this intro sounds similar to mine (the vocal "AHH" and FX bleeps)... crazy how energy flows run through people, i suppose..?

maybe you can add some reverb to it overall, really like how you have your noise sidechained.... and the acid bassline, EQ it more!

cheers

Incredible work... very fresh and Juno Reactor-ish at times.

The classical/orchestral sections are amazing. The voices and such are simply outstanding.

The bass frequencies could indeed stand out a little more in certain segments of the track, but the orchestral segments and such are the focus of the track. They are what it is all about, and what an achievement in experimental ideology this turned out to be.

Yeah, I agree, it is a bit Juno Reactoresque, but would still rock a dancefloor I think!
I'd love to know what you used for the vocal and orchestral bits tho! They're pretty amazing! The outro also works very well too.

The strings at the beginning are prominent but not overdone, its not like its really melodramatic, which these things can be. Its just right. And that big grungy supersaw works nicely to couterbalance the whole section too. The way you run those subtle little hihats over the breakdown at around 3:00 works wonderfully. I would change the melody a little in that section to give more drive and less Juno Reactor but its maybe just me. Overall, smooth work!

cool sounds going from the very start and the choir gives it a lot of a dramatic feel

nice little stutters you got there hehe

gets much more moving after the intro...although the low end doesnt seem to pump at all you need to EQ/compress there...because you have all the power in the low mids and the subwoofer here on my setup almost doesnt move

otherwise everything sounds clean and its a very nice composition which would rock on the dancefloor I am sure...

Just can imagine myself dancing to that ! yeah!

yeah, this is great, completely original!

love the atmopshere, and bassline, im thinking the bassline stands out a tad too much over the atmosphere during the breakdown, just my opinion, really well eq'd. I reckon it would go down well on a dance floor, but only one way to find out

hmm, think the piano has a few too much mids and could do with a bit more high end?

But anyway, i love it!

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks so much everyone! You really made my day
Also, this really encourages me to finish my idea for a experimental album.

I listened to the track and heard the lack of bass as pointed out, funny how blind you get after working too much with a track
Also, I made the piano a bit clearer by loosing some mid-end and beefing the highend eq:ing.

Here's the new track: http://www.emortal.se/music/Emortal..._Angel_new2.mp3
Think it sounds better now?

Great Stuff:

Plinky synth, such as in the intro and throughout.

1:49, synth that comes in here is great, especially like the delay/reverb tails that trail off.

4:47, I like the melody switchup here to lead into the next section.

I like the fact that even if you strip out the piano and strings, you'd have a great track. It doesn't rely on these, but it's reinforced by them

'Other' Stuff:

I have very little experience with the psy genre, but I've noticed a theme of lots of deep bass and a higher punchy kick. I'd like to hear some other opinions on this. I think some minor changes on bringing out some deeper bass and a punchier kick would round out this song perfectly!

I've always liked your stuff, and this is no exception.
