Another Deadmau5 thread?
I'm not sure what is meant by "takes the crown," but if we're talking about having generated notoriety, we need look no further than these various threads to say that he has.
Anyway, in terms of quality productions that have marked 2007, I don't see any reason to award Deadmau5 with the overall crown of success. Granted, his tracks are undoubtedly pleasant listens, and despite his style popping up around every corner, it nevertheless remains an effective technique- as a producer, I think it's also fair to say that he's been rather consistent in terms of quality output. But others that more or less run in the same genre circles have been releasing far more interesting content than Deadmau5's discography for the year.
But I will certainly give him credit in regards to him having gotten the Deadmau5 word out and in full circulation in a relatively short timespan. As I said in a separate thread, whether you're fond of his work or not, he's created a noticeable stir across the board.
