Dead Mans Shoes

there's been a spate of great older film threads, and this is as deserving (if not more) of any of them, an Independant UK film directed by Shane Meadows (This is England, A Room For Romeo Brass), and Starring the best current English Actor, Paddy Considine (24 Hour Party People, A Room For Romeo Brass, In America), it tells a story of an ex-soldiers campaign of revenge against a group of Drug Dealers who abused his mentally handicapped brother whilst he was away in the Army.
This is truly the Taxi Driver of our generation, and one of the best films I have ever seen. Get on it.

Thanks for the heads up, this movie looks real interesting. I've always thought that the movies made in the U.K. and Italy were superior to American movies in general. The only American movie that I'm really interested in this past year is No country for old men. I've heard nothing but great reviews and stories that the cast of that movie were amazed and some were even scared after watching this guy's amazing performance during production.

I'll check that out definately, I'd heard some good things about it as well.
Dead Mans Shoes is a few years old now, but it definately didn't get the recognition it deserved, particularly from the US audience (suprise?), It was wrongly portrayed as a horror/slasher movie, but I don't think I've ever been able to relate to a film more. It's dark but at points it's almost funny, and in terms of the characters it was almost as if I knew each of them, something which Shane Meadows the director has a brilliant knack of doing.
Buy it, rent it, download it if you have to, just make sure you fucking see it

Looks like an interesting movie.

No Country For Old Men was awesome. Great film with great performances all around, the best I've seen in a while.

Dead Man's Shoes is a brilliant film. Paddy Considine is excellent in it. Very dark film but has some really funny moments and a good soundtrack as well. As far as I know it was made by Warp films who run a record label, hence the decent soundtrack.
