My parents stay at the Days Hotel on W94th. Its uptown, but its a GREAT neighborhood and is literally steps from the express train (2 & 3), so you can be in midtown in 5 minutes.

go to craigslist, and sublet an apt for very cheap

thanks for the info ppl. about the craigslist thing, we're only gonna be there for a week. would people do this for a short period of time?

yes there are tons, just look in the sublet section of craigslist, you will save lots of money and the apartments are nicely furnished.

Definately, it'd probably be cheaper for you to sublet a place for a month than to stay in a manhattan apartment for a week. Or, consider a hostel if you JUST need a place to crash. Depends how much you are looking to spend. Either way, you can do better than the $100-250+/night rates that hotels are going to charge you.

The New Yorker, or whatever the heck it is called. Right outside of Penn Station.

Holiday Inn on 57th btw 9th and 10th aint bad
