well all you UK guys out there probably know Pete Tong named the Van Shee bootleg of this tune of the week not too long ago. Needless to say this is getting a proper release on a big label and we gave our run at it

you older guys should know the original, it was the jam of jam's in the early 90's.

edit: oh and i dunno what genre this is so don't mind the post... and yes we've been really busy in the studio... but done on projects until the new year.

lessee, the original is a big classic and i like it very much,

I absolutely hated the van she bootleg and i really don't think much of this version either, it doesn't have that same feel of the original besides that kate bush vocal

Classic that just shouldn't have been touched. Sorry Anthony, but this one just doesn't do it for me on the first listen, it's just too hard to listen to it without comparing it consistently to the original (much the same as when I listen to the Van She boot).

i think that's ultimatly the problem with trying to do a remix of SUCH a classic. Every second you want to compare it to the original and we knew that going in but if you really listen to the original track it does deserve an update.

The Utah Saints guys really liked our mix but no need to apologize for not liking the mix, we knew it would be a challenge!

Agreed, completely. I definitely commend you for making the effort, and it does sound polished - but that last hurdle of constantly comparing it to the original is a hard one to overcome.

Cheers to understanding the risk involved with working on something like this - and I can say at the very least that I think you did a better job than most who attempt similar kinds of mixes.

really, if you really listen to the original track you would know that it's a track that is VERY early 90's and it's not trying to be anything else. when 'remixing/updating it to a modern setting' like you did, you are not remixing the original, atleast not in these ears. i didn't hear any of the synthnotes from the from the original or whatnot. my point is, you are just making a new track and sticking on that kate bush vocal on it, you might aswell call it Kate Bush - Cloudbursting (Remix).

You made that part with the rock guitar yourself or is that from the original? (I don't know the original). Oh and don't really like the vocals

Nice and clean mixdown. I like the percs.
This type of music doesn't really appeal to me but it is a good production, that's all I can say.

As a youngun who's never heard this track, i was stunned to come back to this thread after listening to it to see all these negative responses... i totally loved it! my first thought was literally, "i gotta get my hands on this mp3." this track was definitely a good time.
