Is the audio input useful?
Can you save an audio sample as you can do with presets?
Is the arpeggiator worth something? Is it more like a rather limited Ableton arpeggiator or a more sophisticated one like in FM8?

there's a knob osc 1 and osc 2 which lets you control pitch, waveform and unison separately, so what are you talking about here? The pitch bend? That's correct behaviour, the pitch bend is a master midi controller, don't forget it.
The audio input lets you connect your computer outputs, it's quite useful when your synth is directly connected to your speakers.
The arp is fully programmable with the included editor, but this latter is a little tricky to program. Still I don't know why so many people find live 7 arp so limited. it's probably because they don't know how to use midi and audio racks.
And for what it's worth, the x-station is quite good too, but really hard to find here in Benelux and France, as it's been abandoned by novation.
