Unhappy SolarStone - Break Up Nooo!!

Hey guys, just heard this very said News Taken from Solarstone's Myspace Page

quote:
Due to an inevitable growing difference in musical taste and direction, Rich & Andy part company. Andy now prefers a more house-based sound. However Rich & Andy continue to enjoy running Deepblue which continues to grow - Rich now concentrating on A&R, and Andy focusing on the design and business side of the label.

The Deep Blue Radio Show starts to snowball in popularity, broadcasting across 38+ stations worldwide to millions of listeners. Robbie Nelson joins Rich on the show on a bi-weekly basis.

Rich begins work on the debut Solarstone full length Artist album, entitled 'Rain Stars Eternal'. Dj dates in Finland, Tokyo, Taipei, Jersey, Ireland and a short tour of America ensue to promote the single 'Late Summer Fields' (a collaboration with Alucard featuring Rich in writer, producer and vocalist roles). The 3rd Young Parisians single 'Obsession' is released on Tokyo Recordings. A collaboration with Finnish Dj Orkidea produces a track entitled 'Slowmotion'.

Rich launches another new label 'insatiable records', which kicks off with Steve Birch's 'Edge Of The Ocean'.

Reviews for the 'LSF' are brilliant: "...Late Summer Fields could be the one to apply serious pressure to the status of 'Seven Cities' .... Stunning - 5/5" DjMag.

STOP PRESS: Next single is an album sampler consisting of 'Rain Stars Eternal' and 'Spectrum' - release early 2008...

Very sad, loved all their songs, Solarcoaster and Seven Cities

Yeah, that's actually really sad news, especially considering that they appeared to have established a consistent mix comp series.

However, it didn't appear that they had much going on the past couple of years production wise, so its not like it all came to a sudden and screeching halt. Nevertheless, they managed to make more than a sizable impression during their run.

I really wish they had invested some more time in the Chillout area, as the few "Solar Stone Afterhours" productions they released were nothing short of gorgeous.

Shame. That said, I haven't heard anything truly impressive from them in a while. Two of their semi-recent "big hits" were re-hashes of tunes they'd produced and included on their Chilled Out Euphoria compilation (which remains one of my all-time favorite mix CDs). Quality work in the past? Definitely. Recently? Not so much. *shrug*

one of those songs was over 5 years ago, the other 9 years ago. Why be sad? These things happen in music and whilst their contribution was good up until their work with scott bond finished, they've done nothing of note lately and this explains it (differences in taste) I'll never forget how mesmerised I was about hearing seven cities for the first time but we must move forwards not backwards, sideways not forwards, and always twirling, twirling, TWIRLING

This isn't news!

Solarstone has only been Rich for ages. Well, it seems like ages to me anyway.

And I don't see why it has to be sad news. Rich is still DJing and producing as Solarstone, so Solarstone is certainly not dead. Especially with a new album coming out soon, and especially with it's preview tracks sounding so good.

They have done stuff of note since the Scott Bond collaborations. Like A Waterfall & Late Summer Fields to name just two off the top of my head.

Serves them right for allowing a vocal version of Seven Cities.

2nd Element - Underwaterfall in 2001. Just added a kick, a bassline, changed one of the synths and added bad vocals.

I was kinda replying to Ian. Yeah, I know what you're saying but I think you exaggerate a little. The basic melody is the same, but they are two very different songs with very different purposes. Both still good though.

A sample of one of the tunes on his next single "Spectrum" can be found here:

I really love it. Thoughts anyone?
