A lot of people seem to like this film, but I must be the only person on the planet that truly HATED that movie. I even got up early and left the theater!
So much of the story-line was over-the-top "suspended disbelief" that I found it hard to buy; Like when Peter Fonda's character gets shot in the stomach...but suddenly, the bullet is removed and he's fine to join a posse the next day??
Or how Russell Crowe's character keeps bumping people off in the guard detachment that's taking him in, and they just keep taking it! In a real western, he'd have been shot out-right as soon as he'd killed his first guard.
And that SON of the Christian Bale's (main character's)!! Mouthing off to his dad every chance he gets?? pfft...please. In the real world, who would put up with such a snot-nosed little brat, let alone one in the old west? If that was John Wayne's kid, he'd have bitch-slapped him in to line!
"The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"...now THERE'S a true "Western-Noir"!! Movies like "3:10 to Yuma" try, but they can't hold a candle to Sergio Leone Westerns, IMHO.
