TRANCE/PROGRESSIVE/HARD DANCE STAGE

AMBER D., UK - Tidy / www.amberd.co.uk / www.myspace.com/djambermusic

Amber D is now one of the Hard Dance scene’s most loved and respected DJ’s and Producers. Her meteoric rise to fame has come mainly from her extensive background in music - she is a classically trained pianist and has completed a BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology and operates her own studio. Her productions speak for themselves. The two-piece Amber D EP was the best seller of 2006, and Amber was the first female DJ to have a whole EP dedicated just to her on Tidy. This release got fantastic reviews throughout the world, in magazines, newspapers and online. The highly talented Amber has an undeniable gift behind the decks, and her stunning looks, good nature, and endless enthusiasm for dance music have put the world at her feet at just 25 years of age.

JENNIFER RENE, USA - Armada, www.jenniferrene.com / www.myspace.com/jenniferrene

Jennifer Rene was born with music in her soul. Singing and performing since she was very little, writing songs since she was 10, those around her knew she was destined to be involved in music. One day many years later she bought a computer and a mic and sat down to record her very first sample of vocals with them. She took the first take she ever recorded on it and sent it to a friend to get an overall opinion. This friend had a close connection with Trance producer Jose Amnesia, whom he sent the sample too, without Jennifer’s knowledge. The next day Jennifer was contacted by Jose to record more vocals for this small sample and in a short period of time Jose Amnesia feat. Jennifer Rene "Louder" was born and soon picked up by Armin Van Buuren’s record label, Armind. Jennifer has come a long way in a short span of time, DJ’ing around the world as well as performing live with Armin. Watch out, because this girl has only just begun to show what she is capable of!

BITCHIN' with Mama Miche & Kenzie Clarke, Victoria - Mama’s Cupboard / www.myspace.com/bitchinladies

Mama Miche & Kenzie Clarke are two of Western Canada’s leading ladies behind the one’s & two’s. Their unique sound and style, Bitchin’ Beats, can be described as a bass-heavy, tech infusion of Electro, House and Breaks. Since teaming up in 2004 and creating their Bitchin’ residency in Victoria, BC @ Hush, they have been hostess to the big and small artists of Breaks and House music and every time the party is a show like no other! They have rocked crowds separately and together including three appearances at the annual Shambhala Music Festival. They have played alongside all the heavy weights and have proved themselves a force to be reckoned with each and every time. Aside from DJ’ing, Mama Miche manages her own booking agency, Mother’s Cupboard, and Kenzie Clarke, production mistress extraordinaire, is currently putting the final touches on her first releases. Bitchin’ can only be described as Beats and Bass with Grit, Style, and Grace.

AMBER D'AMOUR, UK - www.damourrecordings.com / www.myspace.com/damourrecordings

Amber is now taking over the Electro & House scene, with her label, D’Amour Recordings, and a new guise, Amber D’Amour. Her first release, “Give It Up” has already been signed to “The Worlds Greatest Electro, Volume 2”. With a string of big releases under her belt and eight compilations to her name, we can expect a lot from her in the house scene. Her love of House and Electro stems back years, with her love of all things Todd Terry and now into present day with influence taken from Angello & Ingrosso, Mark Knight, Dave Spoon, Switch, The Trophy Twins, Micky Slim, and Funkagenda. Twisted is very pleased to present Amber AGAIN in a very special intimate setting not seen outside of Ibiza or the UK as she weaves the sultry sounds of House with the filthy basslines of Electro for a special encore set.

jennifer rene, (aka.: female van buuren ,) eh? now, i must admit that from what i've heard about her on t.a. & t.nu, & more importantly, heard from her, (in her sets,) she's a newbie @ the d.j'ing thing. =/ (no. not "n00b". newbie; for she just started in the middle of '07.) but hell, i think that the lyrics she wrote/her voice on Jose Amnesia - Wouldn't Change A Thing & Jonas Steur - Fall To Pieces, (1 of my favourite songs from this past summer,) are pretty damn decent! so, ehh...whatever, i guess.

(...but i'm tellin' you right now that i ever have to hear Louder again, i'm going to WRECK. o__O & Invincible ... errr ... something's wrong w/ that track; i can't quite put my finger on it, though. but it sounds off, to me. =S)

anyway. a set of hers from late may/early june '07:

23:00 - 00:00 Jennifer Rene
Tracklist:
01. Nu Nrg - Bonsai
02. Santiago Nino & Giuseppe Otaviani - Beyond Your Thoughts (Original Mix)

05. Stenna - Skyline (Arizona Mix)
06. Jose Amnesia - Eternal (Pulsar Remix)
07. Matt Darey - Liberation (Darey Deep Mix)
08. Einmusik - E Keli
09. Sander van Doorn - Pumpkin

Ow yessss! this is gonna be such a girly show haha..which is actually pretty cool FOR ONCE we can experience a night with amazing female DJ's! we better not have to wear pink cuz I hate that color & dont own a thing in pink
Jennifer Rene's sets are pretty similar to Armin Van Buuren sets..you know, uplifting trance..vocal's..stuff like that and I adore her, Im her biggest fan in Vancouver HAHAHA..rightttt

Like or not, the 'Armin' sound is popular, and a lot of DJs are fans as well, so it's easy to fall into a likeness or emulation. She's pretty new at DJing, give her time to develop her own style and sound, if that ever happens.

On a related note, I remember having a chat with Dom of Filo & Peri about this. When they first came here, many people in Vancouver were not impressed with them because they DIDN'T play an armin-like set. (They actually played a set a lot like what I was playing at the time, so it was a treat for me). Regardless, any DJ could emulate another, track for track even, there's so much room still for personal variation, bpm, mixing style, if they're a filter/fx or a x-fade dj, the way they handle EQs on the mixes, timing of transitions, etc etc.

And no, I don't think any of the above posts were meant about Jennifer in a negative way. I'm just throwing in my thoughts and two cents, and hope that all who go put aside any of this 'armin-like'ness and just enjoy the show for what it is.

Ofcourse, we never said anything like that but I understand what you mean & the reason I said that was because now a dayz i've noticed most female DJ's play electro & house sets...I myself want to get into DJing & i've tried making electroISH/houseISH sets & i've found it much easier then making Tranceier sets...for me personally its easier to beatmatch n so on. So I thought maybe its a "feminine" thing maybe? But the truth is, Trance is harder to Produce AND to make sets with.. then House music & Jennifer Rene's MENTOR is AVB so, what do we expect heheh

fact: i wasn't attempting @ insulting her the least bit. so, your assumption is indeed valid. =)

fact: van buuren is indeed her inspiration/mentor/hero. but i'm excited to hear her style & not his. =P

fact: greg, you're sandwiched in between 2 girls in this thread. =O i know you love it. xD

I am excited and honoured to be asked to play this event. I think that talent like Jennifer Rene has to be developed over time and I am excited to see/hear what she will bring to the decks. Each performance is unique and I know each lady will bring her own special thing which cumulatively will result in a killer vibe and party.
I know that there is always an element of "prove yourself" eachtime I go play and I am sure the other ladies on the bill can relate. I am tired of the oooooh she's a female dj thing. BUT in saying that it is immensely satisfying finishing a set glisting in sweat looking up at the crowd and knowing for yourself you brought it.
You brought it because you love the music, you love the rush you, love the crowds of dancers; you get off on it. The fact that you have breasts and can wear cute clothes if you wish is just icing on the cake.
see you on the dancefloor!!!!!!

Hi all,

As many of you have by now heard, Jennifer Rene was recently in a fairly serious car accident. While the injuries she has sustained are not life threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery, the length of her rehabilitation will take the next month, meaning that she will be unable to perform at Pink this February 16th, 2008. Consequently, Allya has been searching for a suitable substitution at short notice and, thankfully, good friend and talented performer Elsa has come to our rescue – read on!

ELSA HILL, USA - Armada, A State of Trance / www.elsahill.com / www.myspace.com/elsahill

With the ability to touch the crowd with her spectacular vocals and feminine energy, Elsa Hill is one of the leading up and coming female Progressive Trance DJ's. It’s easy to see how her catchy melodies and lush vocals stand out from the rest in her tracks such as “Close Your Eyes” with Robert Nickson, and “No Need to Come Back” with Leon Bolier. Both tracks are signed to Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance label and have been featured on countless compilations including the highly respected "A State of Trance 2006" but it doesn’t end there!

In the past four years, Elsa Hill has DJ’d throughout the United States and she recently returned from a three week tour traveling to South Korea and all throughout China. She has received much acclaim for her live performances and is excited for her upcoming shows. Receiving massive support for her sets on DI.fm and live performances on the dance floor, she is becoming one of the best up and coming female Trance DJs and performers in the United States. Not only is Elsa gifted as a singer and DJ, but she is also a talented producer. She is very excited to announce that her new solo production has been signed to Enhanced Recordings. Keep an eye out for this rising star as she makes her debut appearance in Vancouver!
