ROKIT 5 Dilema

I got the Rokit 5's but I feel im missing out on some sound range because they are small, would it be best to sell them for around 200 and get two Rokit 8's for 360 OR buy the sub that works with them for 200 and keep the Ro 5's?

Generally subs are very hard to set up especially in a room that's not treated. So it would make sense to go for monitors with bigger drivers.

However having used KRK Rokits in the past i'd advise that you save up & invest in a better pair of monitors. Rokit 8's might give you more bass but they still won't be very accurate or translate very well (IMO).

at what frequency does the krk sub cross over? if it's around 90hz, i dont think the RP5s will go low enough to get a decent crossover. at 120 it might be possible. RP6s would have been better either way.

why would you have to get RP8s anyway?

I picked up my Rokit 8's over two years ago for around AU$750 (for the pair) and I think they absolutely crap all over plenty of monitors worth 4 times that amount. Of course it all comes back to "If you know how they sound...." but there the best things I've ever bought for my studio. The sub definitely SOUNDS great, but wouldn't it be a nightmare to mix with, especially with the RP5's??

I got them because the reviews seemed pretty good at the price, I want to buy some CD decks soon so dont want to pay out more than £400 for more monitors right now.

I find they dont reperesent the lower ends of the bass sprectrum as I realise I over compensate for bass on them when I play my track on a normal sterio system after making it and theres too much, I know you have to "learn your speakers", maybe I'll just do this for now and keep bass down in tracks.
