Buying DJ Equipment

So I've been wanting to but some DJ equipment for a while, Basically I want a DJM 800 with 2 CDJ 800 MK2's or 1000 MK3's, first if there's anyone that can tell me if the price difference between the 1000 and 800 is worth it for basement or bedroom djing and why i'd be thankful.

Second of all the only place that sells locally seems to be Moog audio, that is that I know of, but I've compared their prices to some places online and it's ridiculous, any other places in Montreal with better pricing that I should know of? and how about warranty. I've found a place with incredible prices it's in the Boston area and they allow pick ups.

So I thought about driving there and getting the gear but then remembered about customs and how they can overcharge the shit out of you, like is there a set fee or percentage that they work around or is sky's the limit for them?

Basically I'm quite lost and confused, I wanna get the gear but don't wanna overpay and I won't settle for cheaper shit so any suggestions would be very helpful.

Audio gear is stupidly cheaper in the US than it is in Canada. It was cheaper even when the USD was 1.5x ours, and with our strong currency it'd be almost foolish to not just buy shit from ebay if you're looking to save bucks and don't care about warranties/servicing etc.

If you're only looking to bedroom DJ you may be happy enough with a pair of CDJ 200s though. Obviously the CDJ 800/1000s are higher quality, but the 200s are easily good enough that if cash is a concern at all you could consider them.

As for the 800mk2's vs. the 1000mk3's, from what I've read the main differences are +/- 0.05 vs. .02 pitch shifting, in addition to a waveform display of the track. The jog wheels are for the most part pretty similar.

I agree with everything Sean Walsh said.

If you have relatives in the USA, order from zZounds and have it shipped to their place and go down and get it.

If not, order from DJdeals.com, also a great site and significantly cheaper than up here (IE: a few hundred).

I really like the CDJ 800. It is designed like the 1000 but much cheaper. The more complex functions on the 1000 are ones I don't use anyways. There's a big difference in the way the 100 or 200 handles compared to the 800 or 1000. Sure, they're much cheaper, but you'll want to upgrade eventually (everyone always does!) so go for the 800.

Definitely check out ebay.

You can either buy from stores here in Montreal like Moog, or save hundreds of dollars buying on the internet.

Your choice

Really?

Cause im considering buying some stuff soon and I really like supporting those guys at Moog but their prices can be rather wack sometimes..

But if that's the case I'll haggle with 'em, hehe.

I bought it all about 4 months ago,but really have no time to use it.
I'm selling it for $2500. I would consider going down a bit if you had a pretty good lcd tv to throw in. Need a good tv for xbox.
