There's this program I use for just that purpose called "Internet Audio Mixer." Only problem is its shareware and after a certain amount of time it only lets you play with 30 secs of audio.. so u have to buy the registration code for 20 $ But it mixes WAVs, Mp3s, and even converts your finished mix into a continuous WAV file or Real Audio... I really like it personally. I forgot where i got it, try alta vista.

you can use: VTT (virtual turntables), and to recorde use Total Recorder or gold wave!

MJ Studio is a good live mp3 mixing app. If you don't have a full copy its a little bit annoying, but its definately fun.

Sandman:

I don't think so, older soundcards won't run in full duplex so they can't play through the soundcard and record at the same time. I have the same problem as my soundcard is worthless. There may be a way to do it, but I don't know how (not that I've ever really taken the time to play with it).

To make mixes, I convert to wave, and use a wave editor like Soundforge. This is more like making a CD as opposed to a live set. You can cut, paste, play with equalization, change volumes, etc etc, and make a cd that is comparible to mixing one in a studio. The downside, of course, is that you can't sit down at your computer for an hour and mix up a CD.

A VERY good, although buggy and very resource consuming program is BPM Studio by alcatech http://www.alcatech.com/ . You can even buy a hardware turntable to it! (even though the software makes a perfectly good "virtual turntable" in good 'ol Winamp stylee

Also try http://www.mixmeister.com If you want to add effects or change beats on a mp3 this is NOT the program for you. But if you have 10-15 mp3's you want to mix together this is the program for you. The program makes it easy to beat mix. Check it out!!!

i've used a bunch of different mixing programs but the best one i've used is called atomixmp3. it's got a deadly beat-matching function and it's really easy to use. i'd definately recommend this one.
