This is going to sound like a strange request, but I was trying to find any suggestions for remixed versions of songs that could be used for swing dancing (yes the 1920's/30's era dance). I occasionally DJ for swing dances, and I like throwing in the occasional odd/newer song that forces people to think about how their dance works with the music. I've looked at the Verve Remixed collection which has a few interesting remixes but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.
The problem I've been having is that for Swing you really need a good solid 8-count repetition whereas most trance remixes inevitably throw a 4/4 beat in which makes things difficult for dancers. I'm not particularly concerned with what genre people suggest; just looking for things to mix things up for the dancers.
Thanks in advance!

actually a lot of the minimalish tech house i hear out reminds me of 1920s swing
the atmosphere, culture and everything, but there's a specific tech house beat that really swings
last saturday i was at a party with matthew dear where he played in the basement of a table tennis facility (yes, it was sketchy) and there was one track in particular that he played that had the kind of ostentatious, hedonistic, brassy, 'showboating', swingy type of sound that reminds me of the 1920s. so maybe check matthew dear playlists
here's a good one for you:
Jussi Pekka - The Line Between (Alexi Delano Remix)
perfect example of this nu-swing attitude

Sweet, thank you for the recommendations, I'll definitely check Matthew Dear out. I've only been able to find samples of The Line Between so far, but I can see how it could work and yes I've been trying to look through some of the minimalist threads on here to see if there's anything I can use. One song I did find that was kind of cool was Swing Set by the Jackson Five.
Cheers.

Check out Jazzy house...
Bryan Jones, The Sound Republic...
Gah. I need to go through my jazzy house stuff.
I'm guessing you're looking for more fast paced and high energy stuff?

Awesome, I'll check those out when I get the chance. I think I've heard Bryan Jones before, but haven't heard of Sound Republic *runs off to iTunes*.
Jazzy house is definitely a good suggestion (do you have any other favorite artists from the genre?), but I'm not necessarily looking for all high-energy stuff (though it is what I usually like to play :P) Sometimes there's beginners in the crowd who have trouble dancing to anything faster than 150 bpm, and some of the slower stuff is just really *good*. But yeah, the only real requirement is the solid 8-count rhythm, but if you have any other ideas, please put them forward.
Thanks!

ah. I play more 'swing' than jazz house. I like the more mellow/loungey kind of jazz house but I prefer stuff with energy.
