I'm sure most people have seen this headline by now, that the Toronto school board voted 11-9 in favour of an "afrocentric" school, but I thought I'd post it any ways.
Personally I find it appalling. If black youth are dropping out at a higher rate and getting in trouble with crime at a higher rate. There should not be focus on separating them. They should focus on how the parents are raising them, they should train teachers better to connect with black youth, or they should change the curriculum to better focus on a more diverse history.
By the sounds of it the only thing that is going to focus on "black issues" is going to be history. Which is only 1 of many subjects. I mean math and science is universal is it not?
I know Im ranting but one lady summed it up best. "Martin luther king jr. didn't fight and pay with his life for this"

i dont approve of it either but it doesnt look like its happening anyway. at least for the time being.
That's great news. I remember McGuinty saying he didn't approve of it back in November, it's good to see he is keeping his word. Hopefully the city won't back it for funding either.

now why you gotta pick on the Asians? lol
I have to say that a 'black school' is not gonna help with race equality or racism or anything like that, it's just going to promote more black pride, black awareness, and what not.

on the subject tho, i think its rather stupid to have such a school because those going to such school will be so lost in this little "black world" that they wont know how to react when they see white people or even them yellow people...
having such a school is going to lead to an increase in "discrimination" appeals based on my aforementioned thought when they graduate and dont get things their way and feel its cos they black
