OMID 16B - Like 3 Ears and One Eye ...

EQ Interview - OMID 16B

He's up there with the world's finest producers, consistently creating music that sounds ahead of its time. He also refuses to play by the rules. Which is why Omid16b has given his new album, Like 3 Ears And One Eye, away free…

The world is not a fair place. There are people who rake in tonnes of cash by making crap music. There are others who make mind-blowing music but never make a penny. Omid Nourizadeh – otherwise known as Omid16b – falls into the second category. His first album, Sounds From Another Room, still sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released 10 years ago. The follow-up, How To Live 100 Years, defies categorisation. But through a mixture of bad luck, labels going down and the fickle nature of the music industry, Omid has never raked in the cash like he truly deserves to. So now, he’s giving his music away. At the tail end of last year, he released Like 3 Ears And One Eye on his label SexOnWax. The first part of the album came out free on the front of DJ Magazine. The second, more experimental part is out online. Some people might think he’s mad for sticking two fingers up so blatantly to the music industry. Others – like his fellow SOS DJs and producers Desyn Masiello and Demi – think he’s breaking new ground. But that’s what Omid has always been about – well, that and making music that stands out from the crowd. Speaking of which…

The most recent Digweed Transitions podcast has a preview of this album. Worth checking!

Comments based on "Transitions" broadcast of his album...

His new album, although interesting from an artistic perspective, is not worthy of anything other than a listen on an ipod or home stereo.

The tracks are somewhat repetitive, lack cohesive direction and above all don't seem to inspire much more than the melody that they present.

Omid 16b deserves credit for his artistic efforts, however with productions like he has presented here he definitely won't be rocking any dance floor.
