"Audio XP SP2.iso" Version missing HT Support?

I downloaded a cut down version of windows XP and installed with my own xp key, its supposed to be a minimal version of windows to free up more cpu for your synths, I'm sure many of you use it.

Anyway I just noticed in the task man that my 2nd Hyperthread CPU dosnt show up, I ran Intel's Hyperthreading Utiliy to check all was well and it failed the test, the utility picks it up fine in my other normal windows boot.

Anyone else notice this and fixed it? I installed the latest chipset drivers to make to it wasnt that but still no luck.

I'm using an Intel P4 3.2 HT CPU.

these nlited copies of windows are always dodgy. realistically, you can't take parts of an OS out without getting problems. nlite is only useful for building in drivers, service packs and automating the install. it's also bad news trying to slipstream hot fixes, as they almost always screw up!

oh you can indeed do that. but you should do it yourself and have the knowledge to decide which parts you need and which dont.

I use a minimalized windows xp, which misses some parts of the OS that are not neccessary for me. But I must say I use this machine for music only, and it wouldn´t make sense to use it for anything else.

The primary advantage of this approach is that you have more system memory availiable. My MusicWindows uses 40 Megs of RAM when it´s idle, normal windows takes about 200-500 Megs.

So you have more free RAM = more Softsynths, more Samples, faster Working Speeds...

No Idea about the dualcore thing though. I use AMD Processors since Pentium II so I don´t have any idea.

PM if you want the image I can put it online. The version is also free of WGA und MSOOBE.

I use something similar, WinXP DAW edition I got somewhere a while back and it works great for me. The ISO is only 133MB so it has quite a lot ripped out. I've been using it now for the past 4 months and its totally solid. They cut out everything you can think of, including anything network related but for me that is fine because my production PC is seperate from my internet and gaming PCs and I like to keep it that way. I'm running Cubase with a ton of VSTs and a Virus Ti and have never had a problem with the build. I did notice right off the creators tried to be clever and named the Windows install directory, C:\WINDAWS. I thought at first this was going to cause major problems but it hasn't. It has support for multiple cores. All 4 cores of my Q6600 are showing.

theres a way to do it basically the stupid tits that released it didn't apply the extra 2 lines of code to one of the bat files that tells xp to look for multiple cpus on boot. Google it i know its on a laptop forum somewhere. my question tho is why not just ctrl shift esc and kill everything running and then don't run graphic effect.s

Ah this would have been usefull to know earlier lol. Man, glad I made an image of the original setup, re-installing Cubase and all VST's is turning out to be a right hassel, I cant get my projects to load properly at all, I'm still searching for this muliple cpu fix for this build anyway ...
