this wont catch on, it will probably be too expensive for regular consumers and real djs will want to buy real equipment

They're gonna be around $750. I doubt folks will view this as a dj performance tool; rather, more like a toy that you can use to try stuff out when you're travelling or sitting on the crapper and such.

thats my point exactly. i dont know anyone who would spend that much money on it.

Well.. think of it this way... the ipod touch 32gb is out for $500 dollars. This is 120gb? Dont get me wrong... these things aren't going to go mainstream... but I definately think there will be enough of a niche market between audio/hardware geeks to at least get this going.

Depends. A lot of the time people get the temptation is to abuse the sh*t out of them, which is why they get a bad rep. That isn't to say that effects can't be used sparingly and gracefully to compliment what you're playing.
