Last night I had a argument with fellow djs. I work on cdj800 mk2 and djm400. The way I mix the tunes is this;track A is playing,i put track B through headphones just to set the cue point and then I simply put the same bpm as it is on the player that plays track A.Then I simply move the crossfader to the right and track B comes in at cue point that is previously set............19 out of 20 times the transition is perfect and if something goes bit wrong I just adjust it with jog wheel and thats it,simple and effective. A dj that works with turntables and serato tells me this is wrong and that I should listen to both tracks through headphones and match bpm and pitch this way and that it is essential I learn to do it that way. I admit it is good to learn to match the bpm by ear without looking at the bpm counter but honestly why should I do this if I am playing on cd players and will never use turntables? Why should I then waste time setting it up that way if I can have it all done and ready in 15 seconds with my technique....................What do you think about this,is it simple a matter of gap beetwen generations or......?
to me its not practical not to use them it makes no sense searching for it if it is written.........there is still some knowledge required for beatmatch and transitions? I dont understand why people force that way so much ,shouldnt the final result be important and not the technique you use to get it? I can find the bpm and pitch myself ,I am not a complkeete begginer plus I have been in production for 5 years so stuff like that aint problem for me but why should I do it if gear is designed to do it much easier and faster?

Almost everyone who uses a CDJ with BPM counter will make use of it, to assist in locating the right area of the pitch slider so that they can start the more precise adjustment process.
Upcoming, I'd say that your transitions would probably last for about 5 seconds if your method is not going to sound atrocious. Spending time listening and 'fine tuning' the beat match is what sets the men from the boys.

Digital BPM counters are never accurate 100% either and neither is moving a crossfader to mix. I'm with Mr Mystery.. use your ears and not your eyes and stop using a crossfader for mixing if you ever want to do any serious mixing

i just use the crossfader to trigger the track b from its cue point ,then its up to eqing and bit fading...........so you say i should listen both tunes on headphones or some other way?and what way should i then enter the second tune,play/pause button or hold it with my finger and drop?

I use my 800MK2 bpm counter to know how fast is the song, but I always use my pitch control to fine tune. Even if it says 132bpm on both decks, it might be 132.1 and 132.8 which is totally different and the tracks will go off within few seconds.
So, set your bpm by using the bpm counter, but listen to both tracks at the same time to fine tune the exact (or near) bpm so that the tracks won't go off.
That's the way I do it and that way, my tracks rarely go off.

ok I have been practicing the way you told me and its no biigie,tell me please when you tune by yourself are the chances of skipping smaller then when autotuning?And what is the best way to cue if not triggering it with pioneer mixer fader,just use the play/pause button or finger holding?
