Disclaimer: please take this with a grain of salt (or the whole bag, whichever you choose)

I NEVER EVER EVER give proper, full reviews of mixes posted up on this forum and this time isn't gonna be any different. I have one thing to say: Don't you dare call this mix a progressive house mix. If it must be categorized, I'd say tribalesque, vocal, farty, synthy, electro.

Your mixing needs work but hey, I'd suck too if it had been only 6 months I'd been doing this...I find it super challenging, still. I liked the first 2 tracks, and almost stopped listening after that Sugar track.

Anyways, you have officially defaced prog. Thank you.

ok....

sorry to hear you didn't like it. you're the first. you classify as you want. i'm still saying it's progressive house. i posted the same mix on djforums.com and have had very solid remarks, especially regarding the tracklist...BUT, if you didn't like it...that's cool. to each there own. fine...there's such hints of electro...but to say this is not a progressive house mix...that's pushing it a bit. not one person has brought that up with over 130 downloads since saturday.

Stereohead is the Progressive queen, if it's one thing she knows it's prog house, so don't write her off just yet!

I'll have a good listen to this in a few mins, and when I get home from work I'll give it a proper review.

Btw, for now, I do have a criticism actually...

Don't post stuff like "Well the other people that have listened so far gave it solid reviews". Statements like that, as "true" as they may be, make you come across as arrogant and that you can't take criticism well. DJs who can't take criticism don't do well, period.

Whether you've realized it or not, you're now involved in MUSIC and music is SUBJECTIVE! Some will love it, some will like it and some will downright HATE it... And others will offer criticisms that you should STRONGLY consider and respond to positively unless they were very rude and insulting. (Which Stereohead's were not).

As I said, I'll give it a listen when I get home and I'll offer up what I can on the tunes/mixing/flow etc.

Peace!

good point...i actually edited my post a bit before you wrote yours cause i had that in mind. but to say my mix defaced prog house...i wouldn't really consider that nice.

like i initially said...whoever doesn't like it....fine with me. i am not claiming this is the best mix known to man...i like the tracks, i'm new to the scene and i'm having a blast. that's the only reason why i'm here.

stereohead...i know you know you're music. i've seen your posts/reviews on these forums since i've become a member. although my comments may have come off as "snarky", in no way did i mean them to be. what i consider prog house and what you consider prog house are clearly 2 different things. i will keep this in mind while titling my next mix. your comments, critisims and reviews are always welcome.

Hey Prince...nice progish mix bro. I really enjoyed the song selection and the transitions/flow. The song order was smooth with plenty of good vocals. This is definitely a different take on prog house but i can see how it fits in that genre..to say that u have defaced it is an arrogant overstatement no one is king or queen of this type of evolutionary style of mixing..its changing everyday in my perspective. Also, if ur not gonna give full and proper reviews..u should not give reviews at all. Its tribalesque, vocal, farty, synthy, electro..so its everything but prog lol ok i can say its not 100% prog but there r hints of prog in this mix..the last 2 tunes most def need to be more hype. but seeing as this is ur first submitted mix and 6th month in mixing..u can be excused good job man..keep it up!

1. im not arrogant
2. it wasn't an overstatement
3. it was an OPINION
4. i'm not queen of anything, i'm just really good at expressing myself and my tastes.

sry if they were harshly expressed and yes, i realize u've only been doing this for 6 months and yes, keep it up cuz you'll only get better. i can't be arsed to DJ anymore (not indefinitely however) cuz i feel nauseated every single time I go near equipment, so kudos to you 1) for even attempting this shit and 2) for putting it out there bro! that takes guts, so hats off.

ps: the defacement of prog is a phenomenon occuring in today's edm industry. no one cares where's it's been or what it's accomplished, no one knows where it is today and only God knows where it'll be in the future. who knows what will come of it? so, don't take it too personally when i say you've defaced prog.

and mr shiraz you said it yourself: the mix is everything BUT prog. anyways, different opinions.

and btw, i already said i rly liked the first 2 tracks, so there
