origin of kicks

adressed mainly to you guys who have more experience with trance production and possibly are signed... where do you get your kick drums from? what do you guys usually do. use a premade kick? layer a few kicks? or create your own using drum synthesis programs. and yes i know of vengeace club sounds. im just interested to know how many "up there" producers are making or buying their kicks.

The point isn't to "get out of your body", it's to bring awareness to your consciousness while you're experiencing another reality.

Heh, you'd be surprised...

The internet is filled with samples, you don't even need to look very hard if you want to find some.

i know! ive got a ton. most are really low quaility though. i love crystal clear kicks though so it sucks. maybe i just need to make my own. what are some good programs or au's you guys would recomend for macs. a lot of what ive found is for pc. ultrabeat in logic is pretty cool but the kicks seem a bit bland. id like to find a dedicated drum creation program.

Well a kick can be synthesised with pretty much any Synth that has an envelope with attack and decay and a sine wave. I prefer to used a program like Drumazon to get my basic 909 kick with a bit of parameter tweaking. After that well I synthesise another kick with something like Waldorf attack and well I mess around with em untill it sounds right for my track. Ever since I learned how to use a synth ive never touched any of my sample cds such as vengeance minimal house. Dont forget to also compress the kick to give it more of a punch but dont overdo it. I don't think a kick from a sample cd needs compressing though since I figure its already compressed too impress you so you can buy it? I still dont add reverb to my kicks yet since I dont fully understand the effect it is supposed to give to a kick. Also roll off any frequencies under 40hz from your final kick and it should punch through the mix a bit more.

most of my recent tracks are made with one 808 sample mixed with a 909 sample, pitched right and with the right envelope, compression, eq etc it gets pretty nice imo.
