Why must men suffer due to conventions?

circumsision is regarded as a healthy, standard procedure in Israel so much so that most families here don't even consider an alternative, don't even give it a second thought; Just child mutilation by default.

I just heard of a case that occured here in which a man sued his parents for mutilating him and taking away his dignity as a person and as a creation of god (for he believes circumcision is interference with god's work); The case was shortly dismissed by the judge, who said the prosecutor is out of his mind or something to that effect.

It's just awful. :/


Why is it still legal to mutilate children without their consent?

i would assume the fact a heartache is a medical problem (unlike having a forskin) would have an influence on that decision...

yeah i'm very against the mutilation of children for aesthetic reasons, and even moreso if its for some fanatic religious cause. this issue was mentioned in a thread previously, and someone posted a link to the health problems associated with circumcision which were many.

highly doubtful considering this is israel, and the only reason he is 'out of his mind' in the judge's view is probably because there's some verses in the torah that commands jews to preform circumcisions (which would be 'slightly' idiotic considering we were supposedly made the way we were by god).
