[Review] Deadmau5 @ Pacha w/ JZ 2.22.08

Deadmau5 = 187'd Pacha. ....... wow.

The chances that people are not impressed with what he did tonight, are slim to none. I'm going to be completely honest, and say that i presumed at first that it was a pre-recorded set. The mixing was dead-on, his track selection was relentless up until 25 min before Zabs (respectfully), and his energy was fantastic.
I'm the complete opposite of gmoney when it comes to tracks (fell free to input) but i recall him playing:

Deadmau5 - I remember
Deadmau5 & Jelo - The reward is cheese
Deadmau5 - Overworked
Deadmau5 - Not Exactly

and a couple of tracks i can't really mention.
Pacha went fucking bananas every single time he played a beatport #1. (which were a good amount of his tracks lol)

He didn't play The Longest Road though, which i was very much looking forward to, but oh well......
I must say, Mr. Zimmerman was a really nice guy. very cool dude Totally expected an asshole, i'm not even going to bs.

Overall, i was just so blown away by him and his playing... i can't wait to see him @ WMC. He has so much potential it's unbelievable. Hopefully he keeps this momentum.

As far as JZ goes.. technically as a dj, the guy's amazing.. i mean seriously, who doesn't know that? I left around 3ish.. only because what he plays is not my cup of tea.

Very good night!!
Great to see Vic and Mike again!

it was amazing, but i was super sketchy when i saw joel in the crowd near the stairs, i was like "i love you man..." rofl pretty random he like ran away after that

i really loved zabiela though. if i may ask, what kind of genre of music does his stuff fit under? i haven't heard much of that and i'd really like to hear some more crazy shit like that

Gunna be honest, was very impressed... He started off really hard with some of his WTF?! stuff, and just when a few of us had enough of that, he changed it up on us... My expectations were "ehh" (expecting to hear all the "hits", which wasn't my reason for wanting to check it out tonight), but he varied it up a little bit and played what I think were the better of the "hits", although I would have liked to have heard "faxing berlin", as old as it is, I still like that track a lot... Also woulda liked to hear his WTF?! tune "ceaba555" but I don't think he played it...

Overall, very good set, maybe not as OMFG INCREDIBLE!!@#!@ as a lot of people were making it seem, I'll give Zabiela that prize though, he was awesome... The skill level he brings should make him top 5 DJ in the world, he sets the standard, and after 2 hours of Ableton from Mau5, was good to have Zabs tear it up on the CDJs, like noone else can that I've ever seen... I haven't seen him in a couple years and he really really brought the heat... I think Mau5 and Zabiela were a mismatch, or maybe should have been the other way around (I'm sure Mau5 had to tone it down toward the end of his set; with a closing set, I'm sure he coulda been more free with his selection).... But yeah, Zabs was a beast and playing a lot of the stuff I initially fell in love with him for... Took it down to breaks and shit at one point, pure filth...

Was a good night at Pacha for once, very cool crowd and no problems at the door: maybe something to do with the Rhythmism.com Anniversary? I heard last week for Morillo, they honored no comps, no reduced guestlists (didn't even inform the promoters of this), and upped the price to 35$ for 21+ and 45$ for 18+... But yeah, none of that this week, got right in no problem, although I still hate that email-collecter guy outside, I don't know why the venue gets someone who offends everyone as they go in...

Anyway, good night, Martinez Brothers upstairs were pretty good too when I was Mau5'd out, nothing stellar, although later on, they were playing some good funk and disco, I was actually digging it, good shit!!... But yeah, 8/10 for Deadmau5, 9/10 for Zabiela, and 9/10 for Sleepy & Boo for a great opening set (what was that 303 acid house song toward the end?!?!?!?!)...

... just reposting xe0us's video...

Seriously.... Does it get any better?!?!?!?! Also, cheers to Deadmau5 for playing "skyhook 2" by Phil Kieran... If I ever actually pulled a Fear & Loathing In New Jersey weekend, I'd do it to that song looped for days.

I signed up on BOTH the pacha list and the basicnyc list and all I got was 10 bucks off because I'm not 21 yet, is this standard operating procedure because I was taken aback by it?

Deadmau5 was amazing!

Usually that's how it works, although my two friends were underage and my guests on the Bradley Rose list and they were comped, maybe cos she assumed they were my guests and 21+, not sure? BUT, usually it's free b4 midnight only for 21+, not sure what was up last night though...

I had all intentions of pulling it together and going but I feel asleep at 10pm I fail miserably because I really wanted to go.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.
