a good way to start a mix? [SAMPLE INSIDE]

im planning this mix... and anyway I thought Id use Southern Sun [Solar Stone Chill Out mix] as INTRO, and then follow it with a big bang: Shane 54 - Equinox 4. I did the mix and I think it sounds gr8.. what do U guys think?

sample: http://www.hot.ee/dtbprofile/southe...uinox_4_dtb.mp3 <-- 4,3mb 112kbps mp3 5:25 long..

PS: I mixed it with TRAKTOR Dj Studio

all opinions would be evry helpful..

In my opinion it starts off too slow and then you get blasted by Equinoxe 4. It's like you are driving in a car kinda slow, and then the driver hits the gas hard. Thats whiplash.

The solar stone mix is not really club-friendly I don't think.

ps: at 4:29 it sounds like another song is being mixed in but it ends after its been on for about a minute. Is this another song you put in yourself? If so, the mixing on it is very good.

well actually I didnt intend this mix for a club play.. its only a mix cd for me & some of my friends and I intended to start it with a chillout track & then bang the real mix in

If I manage to get some serverspace I will post the mix here when its finished (I will mix it in ~2 weeks from now )

It is an interesting concept, don't get me wrong.

But if I were to do it, I would cut out the beginning part of southern sun to make it shorter, and the next tune coming in wouldn't be quite as energetic, but somewhere in the middle. In the sort of way that southern sun is more of a short intro.
