this is awesome adam. i love the space and the repetition you've surrounded this tune in. very dynamic in a set and really enjoyable to listen. can't complain about anything you've got going on here. fine way to showcase simplicity and create a deep environment for the listener to be engulfed by

really like the white noise, this would make a very cool opener. You should really consider learning how to produce in 5.1(assuming you dont already), as a track like this could really go off hitting you from all sides.

I had an hour between classes that I was going to use to make an outline for a paper that's due tomorrow, instead I've used to to try and start an edit of this to use as the intro for my next set.

I really have no criticism for this one - it's put together so well it hurts, and as Jay said the use of white noise and space really drive this one. The stripped down approach to it allows the tune to do just what it's supposed, create a nice building atmosphere, it definitely sounds like it could build into something epic given proper context.

agreed - i could manage that I think. i've done a couple non-dance things with multiple channels

the white noise is something i've been trying for a while now, but I think it hit it on this one

thanks for listening guys - glad the consensus seems to be good so far on this one

Rob, i'd be curious to hear how you edit it.

I'm really a lazy arranger - I have dozens and dozens of unfinished fragments of tracks that I can't bear to piece together, so I'd be interested in how you handle it.

Dude, this is great. I remember liking your productions a while ago but they still felt like they lacked a little bit of something somewhere. This one doesn't.

The sounds are all very clean and cool, quite professional. The only thing that usually hurts tracks like this is that they're all very similar without progression or anything, just deepness. Sure those sort of tracks have their place, but with so many of them around the interest wears off a bit. This one avoids that problem, keeping itself interesting thanks to very clever arrangement - for example I like how the synths hit you very loud every now and then, and how the kick+clap only comes in at 4 minutes. Like RJT and ANF said, it'd make a cool opener... it was exactly the first thing that came to my mind while listening to this as well.

Actually the only thing I found weird was exactly the white noise, like at times it sounds a bit too noisy when it could be slightly more polished. But it's a very minor thing.

thanks

i 'll have a look at the white noise

i did a final mixdown at like 7 in the morning and i was in headphone mode by then so my monitors wouldn't wake my loftmates so i'm sure a few things are off -

what were you listening on?

I like it a lot, but that main synth you have going in and out of filters has been used and abused in the passed few months by a lot of producers doing the deeper side of tech house.

Still love it though, and you had a unique take on how to use it so big ups.

Cool percs too, and a nice mood all around.

thanks for listening

it's funny you say that because i had been trying to figure out a way to make that sound, which you hear a lot in much older tracks and then i hit it on this and made a track out of it.

the percs are mostly free samples from the freesound project, a set of tr909 samples i bought on ebay, and my own kick drum

pretty low budget here

Like this a lot, very Dubois/Jimpsterish etc...

Only thing I think it could use (and because I love this personally) is a bit more percussion, maybe something shuffley, or some light drums.

Good shit though.
