Man murders his girlfriend after a rave in Denver
| quote: | James Greenwood was high on LSD when he fatally stabbed his girlfriend, Antoinette "Toni" Clark, with a kitchen knife Saturday, according to court records released Thursday.
Greenwood, 27, is being held without bail in the Denver jail. He is charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of cultivation of marijuana.
Clark, 22, was found dead Saturday at the house in Denver she shared with Greenwood at 1433 St. Paul St.
Clark died of blunt force injuries to the head, as well as multiple sharp-force injuries, according to the Denver coroner's office.
Police were called to the home by Greenwood's sister, who had received a call from Clark early Saturday morning, according to an arrest affidavit.
Clark had told Greenwood's sister that Greenwood's "behavior was erratic and that he was on LSD."
Officers found Greenwood conscious in the living room, where he was lying naked on the couch, under a sleeping bag. They said he had blood on his feet and legs and abrasions on his knees.
Clark's body was found farther inside the house.
Greenwood told police that he and Clark had been together for two years.
The couple had gone to a rave party at the Denver Merchandise Mart earlier, he told police, where he obtained LSD. He said that Clark took three hits of the drug, while he took 10 or 11 hits before they went home.
Investigators found marijuana plants growing in a closet of the home.
Greenwood has a lengthy criminal record, with a number of arrests for drugs.
He was sentenced to a year in jail and a year in work release for a 1998 burglary and also served three years in prison on a drug possession charge in 2002.
Clark's family was in shock Thursday over her violent death.

10-11 hits of LSD...yikes! Obviously, this guy had serious mental issues, with or without the drugs.
