Read about it yesterday, and I'm still puzzled:
- Why exactly have they added "abortion" to the list if, as I recall it, they see it as a kind of murder? Shouldn't the 10 Commandments take care of that?
- Also, aren't "excessive wealth" and "the creation of poverty" already related to "avarice"?
- How is modern "drug abuse" any different from the consumption of tobacco and alcohol, which have also been around for quite a while? Wouldn't that put wine in a quite difficult situation?
- Does it mean the genetic manipulation of vegetables is a sin now? Is the consumption of transgenics also sinful?
- Finally, did the church release a clear-cut definition of what paedophillia is(n't)? I even visited their official website, looked around, and found nothing. I mean, my great grandfather married my great grandmother when she was 14... is that paedophilia under catholic judgement? If not, does that mean I can hit it after puberty does? I find that particularly intriguing.
But, all in all, I think this is a good thing: thanks to these polemic changes, it becomes clearer that religion is a human (rather than divine) enterprise, and the church can thus receive more fair criticism.

Your questions are all very good... that's why one should wait for the actual verbiage before making any judgements.
