Awesome recipe: thick potato soup and sausage/turkey sausage
ok i think i'm a good cook and all, but this came out AMAZING and thought i'd share it with you all:
What you need:
Milk (Not skim, 2% or whole will do)
4-5 medium size potatoes, red or idaho
1-1.5ft sausage/turkey sausage link (i use turkey sausage bc it's healthier)
johnny's garlic spread (awesome garlic mix, comes in a plastic bottle)
*or garlic/whatever
black pepper
Butter
Boil the potatoes for 45 minutes in a large pot. At 45 minutes, add the sausage link (uncut) and continue cooking for anothing 15-20 minutes.
At this point, drain and remove the potatoes and the sausage.
Dice half the potatoes thin, and the other have cut into chunks or cubes. The diced potatoes will melt into the broth.
Cut up the sausage (I cut into quarters) and fry them in a pan with butter for a few minutes. They are already cooked at this point, this is just to give them some texture.
In the pot, add 1/4 qt milk (not skim milk, but I use 2%) and the potatoes and cook stirring every few minutes (otherwise it'll burn) on a low heat, covered. Add johnnys & black pepper, or whatever else you use...
After ~10 minutes, add the sausage and stir.
Continue this stirring/cooking process until the broth becomes thick. At that point, you're done.
If you've screwed this up, gather up what change you can out of your sock drawer and hope wendys doesnt have a long line.
