Guitar VSTs

Hey i'm looking for a powerful guitar synth that is able to come close to the guitar that armin uses in his song white sand..or in general a realistic sounding guitar synth.

P.s. i know there is a good chance he's using a real guitar but i also know that there are some good powerful synths out there that could come close to it.

any help would be appreciated.

You can probably get something that *sounds* close to the timbre. The real trouble is trying to imitate human guitar-playing in a way that sounds natural.

I agree with MrJiveBoJingles - I have yet to buy/hear a convincing guitar VST. The closest I've found is SampleTank's guitars, but trying to emulate playing is time-consuming and it's still very difficult to get convincing results. If you own Nexus, they just released a Guitars expansion for it, so you could look into that, but I doubt it's going to be any better than a sampler.

Guitarists are a dime a dozen and the type of playing you're referring to doesn't require a tremendous amount of skill. Your best bet IMO is to just find a decent guitarist through an ad, a friend, or hanging out at a music store.

the reality is though, as cryophonik says, it probably wont sound 100% convincing. there are certain things, like the fingers sliding over the strings, that won't be immitated. then again, will your audience know? will they care?

I have yet to hear a convincing guitar sound. This guitar is a very hard instrument to reproduce because it's very dynamic and involves a ton of those 'x notes'. Your best bet is really just finding someone to record it for you.

Agreed, there's nothing that can recreate the sound of an actual performance on a guitar. Have a friend come over and play something.

It's basicly any sound produced by an accoustic instrument that isn't a straight up note; so the sound of guitar picks, accidental detuning, sliding down a string, etc. All of this stuff usually occurs during playing and is considered a part of the 'guitar' sound but is also very difficult to reproduce electronically.

+1 i think everyone knows or has a friend that plays guitar... map out your chords/melody ahead of time and its easy from there.

I've used a free vsti called solo string. It sounds a bit fakey, but not a bad acoustic guitar sound.

Real Guitar from Music Lab is supposed to be pretty good, it's sample based.
