basically WAV is uncompressed, the best quality possible... but it takes up a lot more space and a lot of stores charge a wav handling fee for every track you buy, so it comes out to more $.
mp3's technically is compressed files, so some data is lost. whether it's noticeable or not is up to you. i personally think 320kbps is fine, but others argue that they wouldn't pay for a compressed file.
