About the server space, well, the mix takes up pretty much all the space I have. I usually only have a mix up a couple of weeks max, then replace it with something new. Additionally, there is possible for me to, say, store 200 megs there for a limited period of time. Files that are over the limit are only deleted two times in a month, so you can keep bigger files there for a while.
I don't think the sound quality is THAT good, I use a very cheap phono-minijack cable to connect the mixer (a Pioneer DJM-300) to my laptop (which has an average onboard soundcard installed) and use Goldwave or Sound Forge to record it. After that Musicmatch does the MP3 encoding. I didn't do any post-processing. If you have a decent mixer and OK soundcard, you should get high quality recordings. Just make sure to spend a while tweaking the recording levels on the soundcard, so that the input volume is perfect.
