Christopher Lawrence launches 'Rush Hour' on Digitally Imported

Christopher Lawrence will launch a new monthly radio show 'Rush Hour' on Digitally Imported, the World's #1 online dance radio station, on Tuesday April 8th, 2008.

Over the past ten years, Christopher Lawrence has risen through the international dance music ranks to become one of the World's most acclaimed and popular DJs and producers. With a list of accolades including Dancestar USA's and IDMA's 'Best DJ' Awards and consecutive top ten placements in the World's DJ polls, Christopher is a regular headliner at the world's biggest festivals and superclubs.

Turning his talents to radio, Christopher Lawrence joins Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, Above and Beyond and Marcus Schultz who also broadcast shows on Digitally Imported's popular Trance station.

'Rush Hour' will feature the best in underground trance, progressive, psytrance and techno from around the globe. Each episode will also feature a guest mix, drawn from a pool of undiscovered talents, as well as some of the World's top DJ stars.

'Rush Hour' will also be broadcast on 'The System', WorldSpace International Satellite Radio's dance station which will bring together audiences across the globe including Africa, Asia and the Middle East, with plans to launch Europe's first mobile satellite digital radio service in late 2008.

’Rush Hour’ airs on Digitally Imported's Trance Station on the second Tuesday of each month at 4PM US Eastern / 9PM UK / 22:00 CET (click here to see your local time zone). The show airs directly after label mate John 00 Fleming’s show 'Global Trance Grooves'.

'Rush Hour' will also be syndicated on FM stations worldwide.

I got an email about this from Christopher's mailing list. I can't wait. Best thing is that his show is right after John 00's, I'm psyched for four hours of good trance.

Ehrm, what exactly counts as 'underground' anything today?

Don't be so negative, they said UNDERGROUND TRANCE. And Psytrance. And techno. All in one set! And, it will be from around the globe. Thus, it's different!

Even I don't dare mix it, only the #4 DJ in the world can do that. And, perhaps, #1,2,3, and 7 (not 5 and 6 though, they are on vacation in Hawaii).

What do you mean?

CL's music has nothing to do with Ferry, Schulz and A&B whatsoever

Yeah, but what's going to be so special about his? I mean, aside from the fact that he'll play what he normally plays, it's just going to be another repeated format. He'll have an hour of guest mixes and an hour of him, during which time he'll probably have a "tune of the month" bit.

Give me something interesting. Play Downtempo, Nu Jazz, Ambient, Trip Hop, maybe even some fucking Ragtime. Don't give me another two-hour, standard format EDM show. Everybody and their second cousin is doing it.

I can only think of one EDM show that plays Psy, Hard Tech, Techno, Trance and more, and that would be the show before 'Rush Hour'.

I know what you mean about the standard format, it can get a bit tedious.

I think Christopher will do fine cos he tends to steer clear of the hits and more towards lesser known music. I've followed him for years and he's consistently played a less commercial sound.

That being said, I can't see him busting out the Ragtime or Ambient anytime soon.

why would you expect, or want, that from any trance radio show? go listen to a downtempo, nu jazz, ambient, trip hop or even fucking ragtime radio show if thats what you want.

it's hardly portraying itself as anything groundbreaking though is it? the format has been done to death but it's very much a case of 'if it aint broke...' and merely an opportunity for people to have more access to the kind of music he plays, should they desire it

what you're suggesting he does almost sounds like forcing variety for the sake of variety, which is pretty pointless and more likely to alienate than it would satisfy. and i'm aware the previous statement leads onto the issue of satisfying fans' tastes before his own, but given that he's a full-time professional DJ/producer i can't imagine his musical repetoire expands far beyond what he plays out & produces anyway!

i've just realised this is tonight & i'll be busy watching the champions league. poop ..i guess i'll have to grab it from a torrent at some point
