I am a HUGE fan of the Digweed vortex, I gotta say I liked it, but I didn't love it. I thought 2 and 3 had the best flow out of the four of the series so far.

Here's my reply I typed up for somewhere else.

I listened to this in a few different environments, but not the car yet, sitting in traffic seems to be the place I notice many more details..

I don't think I love it. I like it but it just doesn't sound like digweed to me, great for a studio mix.. but some of the layering got to me.

I want to love it, but I want it to build huge like a liveset. Much like the poster on the first page...fucking huge tracks and very elegantly compiled but the track leaves before it really resonates with me.

I laid down, put it on my bookshelves and i could hear every layer possible.. the way the layers come in are very strong... much different then live, this wouldnt work in a club.

second time I edited some photos and tried to get lost in the vortex, but it never came....

have i lost my mind?

the whole purpose of this mix was to create a sheer intensity. some of the layerings and mixing are superb imo and by far surpass the mixing and flow in vol 3. this mix is pure intensity from beginning to end it takes a short time to build up and once it does it grabs you by the balls and doesn't let go. its very different from his past transitions mixes, where he kept it nice and mellow for like 3/4 of the mix and then threw down like 3 or 4 powerful tracks toward the end. this mix is also a lot more colorful tracks than the previous ones which were mostly focused on minimal and techno.

the entire mix was absolutely mind blowing. to describe it in just one word - INTENSITY. and the ending was absolutely insane and left me wanting more! that's the only problem i can find with this mix, it feels too short.

this reminds me of the northern exposure days when sasha and digweed used to play progressive trance. i think you've been listening to too much of that boring minimal thats been going around nowadays.....

I think when you smash 800 tracks together each track becomes less special. Unfortunate. Haven't heard this yet, will report back.

Bucke: I think not chief.
Besides, i'm into Techhouse, Techno and Argentinien prog.

I thought 3 had unmatched, superb flow. I dont want a mix to grab me by the balls, i'm not into that sort of play.

Taste is subjective, remember?

actually i disagree. it makes it even more special because anyone can mix up 14 tracks and call it a set. but layering a variety of tracks and making the sounds blend into an intricate musical thread takes much more skill and makes that much more special.

It can work but when its at the detriment of the original music imo its not worth it.

And not just anyone can mix 14 really good tracks in the right order and in a way that is interesting. Just because stuff is mashed together does not mean its more interesting than a mix between 2 tracks that is well executed.

Also, I thought Transitions 2 was the best one.
