I'm lucky (or unlucky) enough to wake up every day and sift through lots (sometimes over a gig's worth) of complete and utter garbage - But you find the occasional Gem - There's some days I think the people wading through beatport had it worse than I though.
My best advice would be tracklisted sets. If you're just starting out, take tunes that you love and figure out *why* you love them - What is it? Is it melody, progression, fast, slow, gritty, deep, hard, vintage, cutting edge.. Start to develop a taste and feel for what you're looking for sonically, figure out which artists and labels carry this trend, and expand from there. Kind of like a 'six degrees of Armin' kind of thing.
EG: I like the proggier vein, I also like my tunes a little techier lately. Therefore, I found Jaytech's 'Headcase'. It released on Anjunadeep however, so digging a little more brought me to more of his material on Red Seven Records and in turn, I found Matt Rowan to be equally sick.
