Concours - Suzanne Palmer @ Circus - Saturday April 19 2008

Not many DJs have reached the important plateau of 24 years in the music industry. So to mark this special anniversary, DeepSound Music is proud to announce that Montréal DJ/producer/TV host/label president Max Julien (www.djmaxjulien.com) will celebrate this occasion with a special event in the Circus Afterhours main room on Saturday, April 19, 2008.

The veteran will be joined by none other than the #1 house music diva on the planet, singer Suzanne Palmer.

Furthermore, DeepSound Music, in conjunction with Bad Boy Club Montreal (BBCM – www.bbcm.org), is proud to announce a special contest which will help determine one of the songs to be belted out by the Chicago songstress during the April 19 event. The track picked most often will be sung by Suzanne Palmer that very night. Contestants must send their choice by e-mail to [email protected]. The winner, to be selected amongst all those participating, will receive a pair of tickets to the upcoming Black & Blue festival main event, to be held at Olympic Stadium on October 12.

Suzanne Palmer first gained prominence as the featured vocalist for one of Peter Rauhofer’s most important projects, Club 69, producing such club hits as “Much Better” (hitting #1 in 1998), ”Alright”, and the Diana Ross classic, “Muscles”. Following such solo hits as “Hide U” and “Show Me”, the singer released her second CD in 2005, Home, which included such classics as “Fascinated”, “Luv 2 Luv”, “Free My Love”, “Sound of the Drum”, and “Eye Can See U”.

DJ/producer Max Julien is known across Canada not only for his more than 2,800 events during his 24-year career, but as the voice and face of the Montréal underground music scene on the nationally-telecast bpm:tv. A true turntable virtuoso during the 80s and early 90s, Max played to packed houses at such legendary clubs as Mars, Alcatraz, Thunderdome, Lime Light, Sphinx, September's, and Vertigo. Following a break of over a decade in order to concentrate on his sports management career, Max Julien returned to music in 2003, quickly becoming a regular at Stereo/Stereobar, which included his main room debut with none other than New York legend Victor Calderone, in 2006. He recently made his BBCM and Circus debuts, and will be featured as one of the headliners for the main event of the upcoming Hot & Dry festival weekend, to be held May 17 at Le Medley. Max also realized a lifelong dream by launching his very own record label, DeepSound Records, in 2007.

The April 19 event will begin with Toronto DJ Simon Jain, resident at such important clubs as Boa-Redux, Guvernment, and Comfort Zone. Trumpet player Samuel Véro and artists from VIP Productions will also take part in the festivities.

BBCM will present its latest edition of the Hot & Dry weekend from May 15 to 19, featuring some of the top house DJs in North America, to help bring an end to the winter/spring doldrums! Joining Max Julien at the main event will be none other than Montréal legend Mark Anthony, as well as New York DJ/remixer Sin Morera, and of course, the BBCM Dancers. Morera, who will be making his long-awaited MTL debut, has collaborated with such artists and producers as Shep Pettibone, Frankie Knuckles, Junior Vasquez, and Abel. The festival will continue on May 18 with two important events, including After-Fresh, at Circus Afterhours, featuring Torontonian Cajjmere Wray, as well as Montréal DJs Japai and Ian Key.

Doors for the April 19 anniversary event will open at 2 a.m. Tickets are currently available through the Wantickets website ([[ LINK REMOVED ]]
