How come China's population is so huge?

I still don't understand was it a mix of things or were they always just having lots of kids?

I've always wondered the same thing actually..

you always hear of stupid amounts of people dieing in China - i.e. "24 trillion people died in a bus accident in China today".

China is an ancient civilization ... they've had a huge population throughout the ages. Plus the highly fertile area they inhabit can support huge population. Same with India ... except India is much smaller than China when it comes to fertile land.
