Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

I bought this 2 days ago (downloaded from the store)..... All I can say is gash!

It's rubbish. Every time I load it it goes to download a "update" (even the first time it was loaded). This dies after 15 mins then the game starts ace...

Then the actual game. It's essentially like a SERIOUSLY cut down gittery rumble free version of Forenza off the 360. Believe me I've got both. Do not under any circumstances buy this.

It's like the demo but with more cars and A FEW more tracks (the one from the demo is in it...). In conclusion... gash.

yeh i dunno what to think. there was a time when GT made me NEED a playstation, but to be honest i dont think they are even trying anymore. its all just spending 5 years updating the cars and graphics, but i doubt i could tell much of a difference in the driving model from 2 to 4.

sure, it looks prettier, but the AI is still retarded, the collision model is basic and i just dont feel like spending 500 dollars on a system and racing game that is partially done|

Honestly FM2 on 360 is a lot better even if it didn't have damage. Even if you couldn't fully customize your car paint it they way you want sell it online buy others. All things not in GT5 never mind the demo they are selling for £25.

Even then FM2 would be better because the physics and tracks are better. The graphics are better. Interface is better. Everything is.

i picked it up yesterday and i really enjoy what they have done with it so far, at least on the offline playing side.

playing online is fucking atrocious. every single race i've raced in online has been a complete shitshow. at least 75% of the people playing i've played with online must be 12 and/or braindead, constantly ride the outside walls when turning, and try to hit your car whenever any opportunity is granted. it sucks for the people who want to race properly. they really really REALLY need to include car damage and stiffer penalties for purposely hitting other cars, taking shortcuts thru grass, etc.

and how in christ do i race against my friends online? it seems like the servers just decide who you play with.

yup, played it. 5 cars and a half to choose from. 5 stupid ring circuits except for suzuka---> impossible to race that track properly on line, since it's more a destruction derby style of racing, except without the car damage. You want to play with your friends? Not possible, just invite them over, hook up a few Ps2's, copies of GT4 and TVs.

If this is the prologue of what's coming up, then there's worse to come. £20 for a demo so far, half an hour lifespan, and that's being generous

The complaints I'm hearing are basically "too few cars, too few tracks, no car damage, people playing online are dumb".

Too few cars - This will be addressed in the full version

Too few tracks - Same

Car damage - Same

People playing online are dumb - This is not the game's fault, it's humanities.

Realize you bought a game with PROLOGUE in the title, meaning an introduction, or demo. I am NOT going to buy this, I could have told you from the start that it would be stupid to spend $39.99 when Polyphony Digital is CLEARLY selling the same game twice to make more money off hardcore GT fans. Ya'll should have waited until April 2009 when the REAL deal hits stores.

I gave it a brief spin last night. One of the things that bothers me a bit is that you do not have tuning (or none that I saw) in the demo, but whatever, it is a demo, albeit a ludicrously overpriced one.

It definitely whetted my appetite for the Real McCoy.

Is there going to be damage? I'm not so sure.

End of the day this is what a year after FM2 and is shiter. Even the full version I'm not expecting much more aside from more of the same plus tuning.

Notice a lot of the probs I mentioned weren't just about too few tracks/cars. And I HAVE played it.

most people argue that Forza had shit damage because your car isnt totally destroyed after hitting something at speed. therefore GT is more realistic by not having damage. i say bs as racing games and anyone who has actually played a racing game with damage knows that its the slight damage which slows you and ruins your chances of winning that will cost you the race.

but most seem stuck in the GT mindset that going off the course and winning a race is a possibility (since in GT you just tune your car above your opponents and then slingshot around the course using walls and cars to win if necessary) where in real life, or most of the time in Forza, going off the course will cost you a win.

i think my main concern are that the cars still dont look like they are driving on the ground, just floating, where Forza had decent physics modeling the tire contact points, etc. additionally the tire squeal is the same fucking tire squeal they have used since 2 or earlier. most tires dont make that noise and different tires and tread patterns would alter the sound as well.

to even think that tires squealing would be as loud or louder than a race car is pretty shitty anyways. i do think they use the tire squeal to indicate wear on the higher difficulties, but by that time a driver should be able to figure that out themselves|
