Looks pretty damn sick. I don't like the studio faders on it though.

it really doesn't sound like much:

Following the revolutionary Xone:3D, the new Xone:4D DJ mixer with built in MIDI controller now has a 24bit sound card and a great new look and UV light sensitive white screening so the controller data will glow under UV light.

Here's the latest info on it:
# Totally new USB2 soundcard
# 24bit/96kHz capability
# Drivers available for both PC and Mac
# 4 stereo outputs plus digital out
# 4 stereo inputs plus digital in
# 8 extra soundcard configuration switches remove the need for the desktop configuration utility of the :3D
# Ability to switch FX2 RCA sockets to be recording outputs
# Unique real-time LFO waveform edit function
# Dual layer control surface with control snapshot allows 225 mappable MIDI controls across the two layers.
# Updated mixer circuitry
# Improved BPM detection system
# Heavy duty chassis and front panel

The new 4D will do everything that the 3D could do, and more. It will enable DJs to greatly extend the capability of their digital setup, e.g. by running 4 simultaneous decks in Native Instruments Traktor, or by being able to achieve genuine multi-track recording of their sets in applications such as Ableton Live or ProTools. The new 4D should soon be given Traktor Scratch approval by Native Instruments, enabling full compatibility with their encoded vinyl system.

Of course, the most noticeable visible element about the 4D is the new style. A & H have developed it in response to many people’s requests for panels which are easier to read in low light (all the white screening is in Ultra Violet sensitive paint, which glows when exposed to UV light), and for the Xone design to become more stylish and representative of contemporary design.

and the lemur isn't for everyone. depending on what genre you play, the 3d/4d will suit you perfect

oh and they seriously should have put in 4 band eq like the damn 92.

wasn't 3:d limited to a total of 4 in/outputs, where as now you have 4 of each. and usb2 vs 1.1

3d supposedly had plenty of reliablility issues, so maybe that's the big update here.

was going to buy a 3D in a month or so, but i think ill wait till the 4D comes out.

the extra stereo output and the dual layer midi controls are exactly what i need. i cant say i love the new style though, to dark, and does every dj booth have UV lights? nope, im sure they could of come up with something a bit more practical, but im sure in a dj booth with UV lights it will look awesome.

its not that far of the price of a 3D, couple hundred pounds or so. although the 3d will drop in price when this comes out.

any news on a release date? the sooner the better imo

EDIT*

http://www.decks.co.uk/products/mix...n_heath/xone_4d

have it in stock apparently, well, delivery in 2-3 weeks anyway

I hate how Allen and Heath is trying to cater to three markets with this thing: the Traktor market, Ableton market, and conventional CDJ/TT market. I wish they would either make a sick Ableton controller (ala Maven or Zero 8 but better) or just stick to making their usual mixers! The layout is still lame, MIDI pots and faders don't look like the same quality as the mixer knobs + sliders...

I don't know, I think A&H should have mass produced hawtin's 92:ctrl instead of this. just my 2c tho

i think this xone line is great, its usefull and its a quality piece of kit, but i do admit that it tries to do to many things.

and as for mass producing Hawtin's 92:ctrl.....well, that would be just awesome wouldnt it.....................but i would still go for the 3d/4d

It's a nice update, but too late... I had the 3D and the sound card was a HUGE limitation. The MIDI controls aren't really good enough to mix with (not enough knobs for 3 band eq), and when you have that "almost-xone-92" mixer sitting right there it makes more sense to route ableton channels into that. The 3D limited you to two channels, and when you set one of them up as a cue channel, it was really limited. Plus the 3D has huge MIDI latency.

But yes, for ableton DJ's, the Vestax VCM-600 plus an external soundcard seems like a better choice to me at this point.

This device isn't bad, but it tried to be all things for everyone, but winds up being best at none of them.
