Barcelona, Spain: Travel Question

A friend and I are considering going to Barcelona for a week, end of August - early Sept.

Are the beaches still crowded around this time, or is it getting colder? When does beach activity shut down?

Also, is the nightlife on the beach, or in the center of Barcelona?

Thanks for any advice

thank you very much for the advice.

One more q., is Sants-Estacio a good place to stay? My hotel will be there. I want to have convenient access to the beach (Barcelonetta), cultural attractions, and nightlife.

Guys,

I'm scheduled to fly to Barcelona next week. Since we all know what happened today (the tragic plane crash in Madrid that killed 150), do you think I should somehow change my plans?

My main concern is not so much flight safety but rather the general atmosphere in Spain. I'm concerned that many European tourists will cancel their plans and Barcelona won't be as much fun as it could be for me. I'm going there for the crowded beaches, packed nightclubs, and non-stop partying. But if Spain announces national mourning, or if many people cancel their plans, then I guess the mood will be very different.

Any advice?

i actually stayed right next to that metro station last week. its very convenient. from there you can hop on the metro and go to the beaches. some of the local TAs would know better of course.

everything0, you think I should still go, or there'll be less people now after today's plane crash?

I was out of Barcelona during these days but I think all was normal in Spain after the crash. I mean life goes on.
