Soz if your not supposed to post shit like this in here?
I have downloaded FTP Surfer and I want to let someone Log into my FTP to download MP3's from me.
I think that my IP is NOT 'static' I think it changes everytime I log on to the internet - do I need to change this to a 'static' IP address and basically tell whoever it is that will be logging into my FTP the IP address, give them a password etc and then we are good to go ???
Any links to sites that I can learn this on would be helpful as well
Cheers
Technaut

Your best solution...
I've used it in the past and it works great.

As for making your IP 'static', just use http://dns2go.deerfield.com/, you'll have a domain that always redirects your visitors to your IP. It's really useful. Click the link to learn more.

Technaut, now you can even choose, I think both are good, so it's up to you...

Personally I use WarFTP, you can get it at http://www.warftp.org. I havent tried Serv-U though, it can't be that bad either. Give them a try, and you'll see

Anyways.. The client is the one with which you connect to an ftp server.
I think you were searching for an ftp server program, such as warftp, and serv-u... the one that makes your computer an ftp server, so that others can connect to you, via their ftp client....
Hope it was understandable

Yeah I can understand your being very helpful
So there are 2 types of FTP a client and a server program.
The client is just to connect to other people FTP servers
The server one is for when people connect to me - which you were correct in saying thats what I want to do
So I'm now going to try the link you gave me for the server one and use it. I take it the server can be used to connect to others as well?
