I am looking to buy either tomorrow, i'm kinda torn. I read some reviews online, seen some reviews on youtube and still am undecided.

Im very happy with my CDJ200's, and i always find the denons feel far more 'plastic' when i try them out in the store.

The denon has scratching however, which you may be interested in, as the 200's do not. However if you really want to scratch on CDJ's id recommend you step up to the 800's.

The pitch resolution is another large difference, with the 200's being 0.02% vs the dns1000 havign 0.1%, this basically results in less adjusting of the songs speed while mixing, as you can get the bpms closer together, easier.

If i had to guess the majority of the forum will recommend the 200's over the denons, as alot of members started on them, or own the 800's/1000's and are pleased with them. It appears that Pioneers build quality is generally higher then that of Denon.

Now mixers you'll find more mixed opinions.

people may not like the feel of the denons...but i really liked it. ive had the pioneer cdjs as well...but i actually prefered the feel of the denons. i was contemplating buying the 1200s...but ive started to mix with two trigger fingers with torq and my technics. good mix btw.

Actually I'd say the 1200's are a little nicer than the 400's. They've improved the platter over the DN-S1000, such that it's now touch sensitive like the CDJ-400 instead of pressure sensitive like on the DN-S1000.

The DN-S1200 has .02% pitch resolution, effects, and the one big thing is when you link two together they can share a USB device. The CDJ-400 requires a separate USB device for each deck. And yes, they are under $500 versus $629 for the CDJ-400.

I don't know why people say the Denon's feel more plasticky then the Pioneers, I always felt the opposite. Although the Pio's are sturdy, they certainly feel cheap. Unless people just don't like Denon's rubber buttons.

Yea those Rubber buttons absolutely ruin it for me, i feel if oyu press on their edges they wont press unlike any of the pioneers

Nah, they work great. They've been using them on their dual decks since the early 90's, and those decks were "industry standard" long before the Pioneers.

But yeah, I do prefer the feel of the Pio's.

i currently use 2 cdj-200's and a denon dn x-100 mixer as my home setup

works perfect, i even recorded my latest mix cd on them and it turned out so good i didn't have to go into the studio (2x cdj-1000mk3 & djm-600) to record the final draft

i've been using the dn-s1000s for a couple years and they're great. I've never used the CDJ 200s though...

the dn-s1000 isn't bad at all

Personally I love rubber buttons. I'm using a Pioneer CMX-3000 right now, but I'll soon be upgrading to two DN-S1200's. I never thought I'd buy any gear that wasn't Pioneer again, but Denon has me totally SOLD on the 1200's (over the CDJ-400, at least).

you can make an excellent mix with any gear you are comfortable with - no matter the brand....but i'd go pioneer especially if you ever plan on playing any clubs...i have a cdj200 at home - only thing i dont like is that it has no reverse feature (i like layering different effects on top of reverse)

I don't think that's good advice necessarily... mixing on CDJ's is easy peasy compared to turntables, and if you think you're good enough to play in clubs, you better be good enough to play on other CD players.

Lots of places still have the Denon duals installed.

it isnt easy to mix on numark cd players, you gotta see if the player accepts the cd fist lol, turntables are a sinch to use compaired to any cd player ive used, then again thats my preferance, and ive delt with some shitty equpment that doesnt keep pitch so, but denon is a fine brand, but if you can afford it go with pioneer, the 200's are sensative but very accurate, you have to have a very careful hand, even more careful then using vinyl i would say beacuse you dont have the drag of the slipmat like a turntable, any DJ shop that sales equipment and has any worth will let you test them out for sure.
