I just got two CDJ100's to add to my setup. I did some mixing on it and im a little disappointed. The CDJ's pitch is not accurate enough. Why would pioneer release a CD player with 0.1% accuracy. To me, thats crap. I have to keep correcting the songs pitch when im mixing in because the pitch control is not accurate enough. By using these, i feel like a newbie not being able to mix. With my technics, i usually just match the track's pitch and mix in the track with my headphones resting on my neck because i can trust that the pitch is fine.

STUPID pioneer 100 cd players.

sorry to all those people who like pioneer 100s, but i think any good cd player or turntable should have good pitch control, since its the most essential thing. Effects and master tempo are nice, but unnecessary.

Do you know what the pitch precision is on other CD players? Such as Denon or American DJ?

If you match them up perfectly 0.1 is fine... sometimes you may have to move it an extra 0.1 up or down for a second and then put it back where it was.

Have you mixed with cd players before? Even if you're amazing at beatmatching, you still have to get a feel for the slight differences between turntables and cd's... that's why you aren't confident.

I have been mixing with CDJ-100's forthe last two years and I've never had a problem with them. You may have to adjust your mixing style slightly by keeping the tracks beatmatched during the whole transition, but you shouldn't have a problem with that if you can beatmatch on vinyl. Just figure out if the cue track is slightly faster or slower and how long it takes to get off-beat. Most of my tracks are fine for the 30-60 seconds that I transition for. And it's pretty easy to correct it live.

This is actually my first time mixing with cd players.

El Zapo - i think most other cd players are about the same accurracy as the CDJ100s. Although, the pioneer 3000 cd player and 1000 are more accurate.

So when mixing with cd players, its better to have the headphones on during the mix??

You just need to get used to the different feel of cd players...

I started with cdj100's and then got two new m3d's later. It took me a while to get used to the technics... my mixing was bad at first, even though I was really good on my pioneers. The problem was that I was so used to the cd players' pitch control... cd's change speed quicker than any turntable, and they don't have the same sensitivity. Just give it some more practice... really listen, don't just move the pitch instinctively like you would with your tables. And just to reiterate, so you don't think you've made a bad purchase: 0.1 percent is enough... just practice with the cd's and you'll get the hang of it.

Ive got an American DJ PRO-DJ2 deck and its sweet as heck ..umm......it splits every second into 75 frames....thats how accurate it is ........it does the job great

These players are great, the reason that you have to correct the pitch sometimes is becuase if you raise it by 0.1%, and its on the limit, it may bounce forward to 0.2% or back to 0.0%.
Believe me I have them and I have dealt with this many times, you just need to place it in a way that it's in the middle and will not bounce back or forward.
As for the pitch, I too mix with my headphones resting on my neck, I hardly get pitch problems, dont worry you will get used to it.

I keep hearing good stuff about the Pro 2. I will keep these on my list of stuff to watch the prices for. They should be a nicer price drop compared to CDJ100s.

Do you have the one that has the effects on it? Or just the regular Pro 2? Cause if you have the effects I'd like to know how they are and if they are useful.

What else can you tell me about the Pro 2? In terms of sound quality, speed for starting a track, etc.

That's not what we're talking about, the pioneer splits every second into 75 frames as well... I'm pretty sure every cd player (not just dj ones) do that.
