traktor's fuckin dope. give you a ton of features that you would have to get a much more fully featured mixer to have... not sure if serato has effects and stuff in-program, but traktor has a huge amount of sexiness (stored cue points, really useful countdown meters, 4 decks, each with their own effects plus a master effect, user defined beatgrids.)
haven't used the serato setup, but i use a similar setup to the vestax one you're proposing (behringer bcd3000 plus traktor) and i really love it. why spend the money on cdj's if you're going to be computer based? plus, if you ever want to move onto ableton, the vestax is still useful as a midi controller for other shit, whereas i don't think the cdj's can do that.
especially if you're just doing it for a bit of fun, i recommend the vestax+traktor model.
