Global Underground: Afterhours 5

This was recently made available on their page:

quote:
CD 1 incorporates some of the best chuggy barroom disco cuts from the likes of Bagraiders, Jay Shepard and Bermuda. During the course of the first disc you get the laid-back beginning coutesy of The Alan Parsons Project and Rainer Weichold that soon leads to a kicking off your shoes and party moment. Throwing in the sensational cut-up mid-range dancefloor smasher SebastiAn remix of Sexual Sportswear, the Data remix of Danger’s 11H30 and even a brand new edit of wedding party classic IOU by Freeze ! The CD then tapers to the sublime works of The Pines ‘Cold’ and the legendary Mint Royale’s track ‘The Effect On Me’, a true music journey and that’s just the first disk!

funny, when I saw that too I was pretty much thinking the same thing, but then again, Felix The Housecat has an upcoming GU from Milan - god only knows what will be on that comp. Anyways, Afterhours and Electric Calm are my fav series from GU.

Same here. Afterhours, in particular, has always reflected a tremendous thoughtfulness into its compiling and execution, and goes well beyond what everyone seems to be doing in the same areas of electronic music.

The perfect compliment to their City Series.

Funny, I actually found it to be the best of the series (that I could recall).

But I guess you picked up the unmixed edition (seeing as you referred to four discs)?

Anyway, the chillout disc was somewhat lame, but the first two were fine gems indeed.

Worth the money. CD1 is kinda oddball disco house and leftfield downtempo. CD2 is very good - nice flow. CD three has some great unmixed tracks.
