Mastering houseing my own tunes and they turn out OK..but now i wanna send them to a

Ive tried master my own tunes and they turn out OK..but now i want to send my tunes to a professional mastering studio so i can compare how they master it to mine..and the difference in results..i also want to figure out if they can make it a bit less muddy..if they cant then i will know that it is at my mixing stage where the problem is.....anyway, there are plenty of companies who offer this service but im not sure who to go for??anyone recommend a studio that will do a job on music of a trancy progressive style???

thanks,

eddie

they can't fix a bad mixdown man -- if it's muddy going in, it will be muddy going out. they really have no ability (unless they are stem mixing it) to fix it. they simply get your tune to the volume level of todays music without distortion and eq spikes.

as for masteirng engineers, i use jack the bear. love his work, couldn't be any happier with the servce. http://www.jackthebear.com.au/ -- tell him i sent you!

Yip DjAnothony is right you have to get your Mixdown Spot on other wise it's a complete waist of time and money and sometimes Mastering Engineers will not even touch it.

Mastering won't make your music sound better. It'll make it sound more "correct" (plays back faithfully on a wide range of systems) and it'll raise the average level if required.

The final sound comes 99.9% from the mixdown, 0.1% from the mastering. Take full responsibility for your sound. I've paid a fair bit of money over the years in order to find this out. If you want to spend a lot of your money too, it's your choice!

Yes, preferably, make sure its not clipping.

Remember that what you hear is what you get, at an even volume.

You must send with nothing (0 plugins) at the master.
Do not normalize.
And leave 3 to 6 db of headroom for they work.
