Which would you buy? |
i did buy the zen, 16...and i love it.
it might need a firmware update, which i had a few probs with, and eventually worked out with no data loss. but over all it does everything great. if you havent used a creative before tho, note that they use ID tags to organize music. you can make playlists to get around this, like i do, but for some people that is just too much hassle. (although WMP11 and winamp can help you re tag them, as well as some other programs)
the battery life really is as good as they claim, usually around 20-22 hours, depending on how often you mess with it(just music). and if you are gonna be in the gym i would avoid the 80gig as HD players break easier. (and you likely do not need 80 gigs of music with you ALL the time, keep the rest on your comp)
i love the fact you can upgrade the SDHC memory, currently looking into an 8-16 card, alt the external card isnt supported amongst the normal directory, so its best for vids mostly.
if you intend on using videos definitely check out iriverter as the creative video converter sucks ass and doesnt support everything it claims to. i managed to get a simpsons ep down to half its standard ripped size and it still played totally smooth.
i would check out getting the screen protector/sticker thing. its overpriced but none of the cases come with a scratch protector, and while i didnt damage the screen before the protector - now i dont have to worry much|

well i used an external cd ripper initially and that meant i had to then go into winamp separately and then rename the tags...i think the newer versions of winamp will rip and ID them, and the newest can rip straight to the player, i just havent messed with it yet.
tbh i usually just load the album, and then make a playlist, the software is really simple and searching the playlists is much more efficient than trudging through 8000 bogus TA ID'd tracks.
its just something to consider, and you might have to mess around a little. iTunes will be a little more organizationally friendly, but then its iTunes too, so it will limit your ability to move your music, et al.
i know the prices arent comparable, but if you could consider it i would look into a Touch(if you want to go the Apple route) instead of the 80gig from what you noted. but then again they are more|
that all being said, i am totally happy with the Zen...the price rocks, the upgradability rocks, the no hard drive rocks, and my gf became jealous of me because her creative was a year or so old...

Zen.
Pods are rubbish made for idiots who like flashy, gimmicky commercials and aesthetically pleasing products, rather than useful products made by companies with some clue of what they're doing.
