Thinking of Gemini TT04s

I started spinning about 4 years ago. After 6 months of pure bliss and no cash flow (I spun the same 15 records over and over again) I was hopelessly addicted. However, they were borrowed decks (owned the cans and mixer) and had to return them. I want to get started again and provided I get this job might have the money. I was thinking about getting the Gemini TT04s. Ok Ok, I know they are gemini but they have gotten great reviews and I can save 400-600 on Technics or TTXs. Ideas? Thoughts? Ive got to buy a new laptop before next term so this is the main motivation for the price hunting.

TIA

You can find a couple technic sl1200s used for like 500$ and below, i hear those turntables last an extremely long time with very little maintenance.

i am also on the look out for a couple turntables.

goodluck

If you only have 15 records, have you considered going the cdj/digital route? You may find it cheaper when trying to amass new music. Or, if you're getting a laptop too, you could try a serato or the like?

Nothing wrong with saving cash. If you plan on ever gigging out, though, you may want to use something that is a standard at places you'll be playing at. I switched from Geminis to Techs a long time ago when I was spinning more and the difference was black and white. It would have been awkard playing on new tables for the first time live. Check out Ebay or something for used tables... Also, if money is an issue in the long-run, you may check out cd players. In the long run you'll save money from buying vinyl. But, get whatever you can afford... may look at used though so that when you upgrade you aren't much of a difference.

Thanks for the replys. I have looked at CD players and seriously considered them. But for me, the fun and enjoyment came from buying new records and the act of spinning them. It made it for me. I can find 10-15 or more a week for a record(s) so I am not that worried. What I am worried about is that eventually they will stop making records all together.

About playing out, thats a good idea, but ultimately at my current location (Lexington, KY) there isn't even a club. period. We have bars and thats it. Other than spinning in my room (fraternity house) during parties I don't see me playing in front of an audience more than 10 or so. Cool with me.

I heard they were going to stop making records next Thursday. Inside knowledge.
