Working with long vocal clips in Logic 8?

Anyone have any tips? I'm having trouble getting the a vocal clip to "sync" with the beat. I think the key is supposed to be using markers in the sample editor, but I have no idea how to do that. Any help or general advice on this would be much appreciated

cut the vocals up in smaller parts.. its way easier than trying to get a whole a capella to fit, especially if its from a non-electronic artist, they tend to have trouble keeping a steady beat hehe..
